Bury Grammar School is an independent day school in Bury, Greater Manchester, England, that has existed since c.1570. It is now part of a group of schools for Pre School, junior, senior and sixth form studies.
Bury Grammar school used Rapid IT for all of their recycling services in order to ensure the safe disposal of redundant IT hardware in line with WEEE regulations.
In the summer of 2017, the school need to purchase 70 desktop computers. Ben Whitaker, Head of IT Services, was looking at ways to fulfil this need within tight budget restraints. Ben knew that Rapid IT had vast experience working with schools and understand the pressures he was under.
Jack Bannister, Rapid IT managing director, said: “By offering high end, fully warrantied refurbished hardware we can help schools make great savings on IT hardware purchases.”
Ben was looking for a minimum specification of i5 desktops for use in the school. To make sure this specification would be fit for purpose, Rapid IT loaned the school a HP 8300 i5, with a new SSD drive, so that they could test and make sure it was suitable for their requirements.
The computer was thoroughly tested and the school agreed that this was the exact solution they needed. The school went on to purchase 70 HP i5 Quad Core desktops; which came in at a fraction of the cost of purchasing new machines.
Bury Grammar School continues to use Rapid IT for the purchase and recycling of its computer hardware and have no hesitation in recommending their services to other schools.
